Serve as internal phosphor expert for advanced R&D programs, development engineering, and for manufacturing. Provide state-of-the-art knowledge of currently available and next-generation luminescent materials for LEDs. Work with vendors to optimize material composition, morphology, and chemical properties to optimize performance with Luminus high flux density LEDs. Develop proof-of-concept designs for single- and multi-color high flux density phosphor converted LEDs for the illumination and display markets.
· Self-motivated hands-on experienced chemist with demonstrated ability to deliver materials into product development and to communicate and document theoretical and experimental results.
· Extensive experience in luminescent materials, including in depth understanding of the role of phosphor particle size, particle loading, surface treatments and binder selection in determining LED efficacy, color control and spatial color uniformity. Extensive understanding of phosphor material properties, including thermal quenching.
· Experience with compound semiconductor fabrication processes and semiconductor packaging is a plus.
· M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Metallurgy, or equivalent discipline and 5+ years relevant industry experience required.
