WHO: Christian
Hoepfner, vice president, products at Luminus Devices, the manufacturer of
PhlatLight® (Photonic Lattice light) LED technology,
the brightest commercially available LED in the world. The only LEDs powerful
enough to illuminate projection HDTVs, PhlatLight’s unmatched brightness also
enables front projectors, avionics displays, LED backlights for LCD TVs, and
other general illumination applications over a variety of industries.
WHAT: Hoepfner’s
presentation is titled “LEDs Go Mainstream: Front Projector Brightness Doubles!” Hoepfner
will discuss how PhlatLight LED brightness improvements combined with DLP®
technology advancements have recently resulted in breakthrough performance for
the front projector market. This breakthrough will enable the launch of
LED-illuminated home theater projectors, with all the advantages of solid state
lighting, including a wider color gamut, no lamp changes, instant on, no color
break-up, and the elimination of mercury. These combined advantages promise a
bright future for the home theater and other mainstream front projection segments
by solving the lamp replacement issue, and demonstrating a path for LED
technology to eventually penetrate the broader business and education projector
markets. This presentation will discuss which improvements enabled this
breakthrough, and provide an outlook on future front projection products.
