January 8, 2009

Eco-Friendly, High-Brightness PhlatLight LEDs Power New Lamp-Free Projector

Las Vegas, NV, Consumer Electronics Show, January 8, 2009 – Luminus Devices, Inc., today announced its PhlatLight® LED chipset, the PT-120, is the solid state light source inside the Delta Electronics, Inc., HT-8000 -- the industry’s first full HD LED-based digital light processing (DLP®) projector for the consumer market. The new projectors will be available in Q1 2009.

The new projector combines Luminus’ PhlatLight LEDs, Delta’s advanced optical engine technology, and Texas Instruments’ advanced DLP capability. In addition to having the highest levels of brightness, unmatched color and reliability, the combination of technologies in the HT-8000 provides one of Delta’s customers Vivitek USA with a full HD home theater projector H6080FD that simply has to be seen to be believed.

“This new brightness breakthrough allows us to create lamp-free projectors delivering dramatically improved picture quality and superior reliability,” said Jeff Fu, Director for Projection Display at Delta’s Display Solutions Business Unit. “With this product, we believe the era of the HD LED home theater projector has arrived. PhlatLight LEDs will continue to be a key component of our DLP product line.”

Designed to be eco-friendly, PhlatLight LEDs are mercury-free and throughout the lifetime of a projector should never need replacement. The solid-state light source used in the HT-8000 is the PhlatLight LED PT-120 chipset, comprised of a red, green and blue LED, delivering high brightness, superior color and long-term performance and reliability.

“Cooperation between Luminus, Delta and Texas Instruments has delivered the most stable and reliable performance for Delta’s HT-8000, with an image so bright it has never been experienced in the past,” said Matt Mazzuchi, General Manager, Projection Display Business Group, Luminus Devices. “Today, traditional lamp technologies are becoming obsolete and PhlatLight LEDs are synonymous with the innovative, next-generation technologies driving the rapid growth of the projector industry.”

The HT-8000 home theater projector will be on display at CES, January 8-11, in both Luminus’ and Delta’s suites at the Las Vegas Hilton. Luminus will be in Suite #4118 and Delta Electronics’ Suite #1365.
